MEET AKASORO OLUWASEUN BABATUNDE YABATECH OVERALL BEST STUDENT .
"I've always loved maintenance. Right from age 12, I've loved losing faulty electrical and electronics gadgets and tried to repair them"
May we know you?
My name is Akasoro Oluwaseun Babatunde
How does it feel to be the overall best graduating student in your department , faculty and overall best student in the College 2017/ 2018 set
I'm very excited... I have something to show for the sacrifices I made in school.
Now the expectations are higher and I'm getting ready for the big challenge. The harder the path, the greater the story should be.
Its impressive to graduate with a Grade Point Average of 3.96.(if I'm not mistaken)
3.81 Sir... My highest GPA was 3.96
How were you able to achieve this feat?
1.The God factor
2. The reading pattern which I adopted in school also helped (I make sure I go through everything we did in class for that day and understand it. The next time I'm reading a new topic on those courses, I always make sure I revise the last topics. So as to master them
3. YouTube videos and ebooks: I download videos and ebooks on each topic / course, That also helped alot, I love visuals
Interesting...
Was there any way social media affected you Either positive or negative
It affected me positively... Without it, I wouldn't have been able to get some of the ebooks, course materials and vital informations I needed (Job adverts, political, and other stuffs). For those that couldn't afford the hard copy material. We snap and share on the forum
Another reason is that I wasn't so addicted to social media... Money for the normal subscription was a big deal then. So, I use night plans most times
Wow
What were the challenges you faced school?
Finance was the biggest challenge I had. I have to take some part time jobs so as to survive in school. My Dad has retired from work for over 16years now and My mum is a petty Trader.
My elder brothers and sisters were also facing their own challenges at that time. I just had to do some work to add to the stipends I get from home and also trust God that it will only get better.
And also at a point
I didn't have money to get a good smartphone and laptop, I remembered staying like four - five months without a smartphone. I couldn't learn some of the things I wanted to learn then.
No laptop for assignments and projects. I had to use some of my friends laptop.
God also used a church member, Mrs Titilayo Osoba... She has been very supportive
How was child hood and growing up?
I grew up in one of the notorious area (The place is called Orita Famous) in Ikorodu town. That was our family house before we moved to our own house in Aga area still in Ikorodu. Growing up was fun and tough. My Dad was a disciplinarian and a devoted Christian. My brothers were like my uncle (my immediate elder brother is 12years older). So they control and restrict me from following friends that can influence me negatively. My teachers in Sunday school also helped shape my life.
I could remember an incident when I followed my friend to the river to swim and when my dad got the news. He tied my hands and leg and beat the hell out of me.
Omg!
I've always loved maintenance. Right from age 12, I've loved losing faulty electrical and electronics gadgets and tried to repair them. Most times, I would fix it and I'm always happy. When I was filling my Jamb form and I went through all the available engineering courses in yabatech and chemical engineering wasn't there. The only course I felt would have replaced chemical is Industrial maintenance engineering. Which I believed was God's plan for me. I will perform very well in mechanical or electrical engineering but maintenance will marry the two together.
Any special vote of thanks ?
Yeah.I will like to appreciate everyone that has contributed to my success (my parents, siblings, family, pastor, friends). May God continue to bless you.
